Hizumi only appears for a few
volumes however it is clear that his relationships formed both before
and during the series are integral parts to his character and leads him
in his decisions during the series as well as is eventual fate of
death.
Hizumi feels that Ayumu is the only one who can feel and understand the endless darkness and loneliness that he feels. Hizumi is glad to be sent to Ayumu because he feels that Ayumu will somehow be able to save him from the darkness. He and Ayumu become fast friends but Hizumi doesn’t want their friendship to impact Ayumu’s decision to join or to kill him. Ayumu doesn’t allow their relationship to do this but leaves Hizumi alone in the darkness relentlessly. Hizumi provides Ayumu with a confidence and another reason to defeat Kiyotaka even if it breaks his heart to do so.
Hiyono is Ayumu's best friend and love interest. She feels that Hizumi is untrustworthy and hates him because he is a rival for Ayumu’s affections. She constantly tries to push Hizumi aside and monopolize Ayumu’s attention. This forces the two of them into several awkward fights over Ayumu, most of which ended badly. She never grows accustomed to their friendship and always feels at least some animosity towards Hizumi.
Hizumi is avoided by the Blade children like a plague. They know that he stand in the way of their salvation and although Kanone and Eyes are the only ones who ever met him they all try to ignore his existence. Hizumi doesn’t leave a good impression when he kills Kanone however it is noted even by Eita Mizuno that Hizumi and Kanone are very alike as far as personalities go. Eyes is able to forgive Hizumi which allows Hizumi to die in peace.
Kiyotaka was originally idolized by Hizumi for giving him a chance to prove himself to the world however that idolization soon turns to hate because Hizumi is dying due to Kiyotaka’s will and belief in fate. Kiyotaka makes Hizumi feel alone but Hizumi will continuously follow his will.
Hizumi is also close to a watcher Kyrie who has had some contact with Hizumi through Kiyotaka. Hizumi knows her fairly well and even calls her “nee-chan” their relationship beyond that is unknown.
It is unclear if Hizumi hates his brother or blames him but from what Hizumi said his brother allowed him to exist and Hizumi is thankful because it gave him a way to try and dispute his brother’s decision by saving the Blade Children, something which he is never able to do because of his role as a “devil”.
