Lack of Fashion Sense

Hizumi’s hair sticks out among crowds. This phenomenon is caused by a fairly bright green hair coloring which defies logic in a series which has mostly realistic hair colors of browns and blacks with some silver and red thrown in. His hair takes a constant state of disarray and more often than not Hizumi looks like he forgot to brush out his bead-head. Hizumi also features Eita Mizuno’s favorite part of hair styling, sideburns. Hizumi has fluffy sideburns that come down almost like an animal’s bushy tail which don’t look nearly as awkward as they sound. Hizumi’s hair in complimented by golden yellow eyes which are slit like a cat’s pupils, in a design that is a staple to Spiral and is often shown as being a key feature of the Blade Children. This trait was inherited from Yaiba and although never mentioned could be a distinguishing trait to separate blade children from “normal” people.

Spiral is the type of series that has constant wardrobe changes as a character goes through their everyday life, however each character does have an outfit that they are known for wearing in art book images. For Hizumi this outfit is comprised of shades of red, beige, gray, and brown to compliment the green of his hair. Hizumi wears a brown hat in the style of newsboys in the early 20th century which he often removes and then sets back on his head between panels. On his upper body Hizumi wears a beige shirt that ties in the front by crossing the strings of it, a design that is often seen on cheap romance novels featuring Fabbio. He covers this slightly feminine shirt with a long red pea coat with leather latches that he usually leaves open. On his legs Hizumi wears form fitting straight leg gray jeans and finishes the outfit with plain brown shoes or boots. Needless to say Hizumi is not all that concerned with fashion. Hizumi also has other similar outfits that follow the same color combination with slight differences in the style of the shirt and jacket.
