born into nobilityGino was born into a noble family in Britannia and grew up having servants and maids to do everything for him. He had very few responsibilities because he was the fourth son born to his parents. Gino was very sheltered and was well guarded in an estate entirely separate from his parents and often compares his childhood to that of a caged bird. He fell for one of his few companions when he first hit his teenaged years, she was an Eleven and one of the servants at his home. When his actions were eventually reported to his parents, they threw the girl out onto the street and berated Gino, telling him to act more like a noble.
What's strangest about Gino is how he became a Knight. Soon after his fight with his parents, he ran away to join the military. Somehow Gino was able to hide his heritage in order to work his way up through the ranks on his own, it is never explained how he succeeded in that but the Knights of the Round novel says that he made his way into the Knights based solely on his own skills. Gino hates nobility, and has no tolerance for the nobles who try to flatter him because of his status among the Knights. He is also considered unique even among the Knights because of his racial tolerance.
"Gino had few of the prejudices that citizens of the Empire held for the Numbers, a rare trait in a knight of noble birth. Occasionally there were aristocrats who thought that way, not out of any sense of humanitarian principles, but because of their outgoing personalities. They were simply carefree enough that the color of someone's blood mattered not at all." -Knights of the Round Novels Excerpt.
