All of the major characters in Reborn! wear several different outfits, however each character has a certain style around which his or her clothing is based. In the more recent arcs some of the characters, Yamamoto included, have had their clothing change as they evolve.
Of course, Yamamoto's appearance is not all about his clothing. Amano Akira makes a point of making most of the major characters look reasonably realistic and accurate for their country of origin. What this means is that most of the characters lack ridiculous over the top hair colors such as green, blue, and purple. That's not to say there aren't exceptions to this rule, in fact as the series goes on this rule has begun to fly out the window. Regardless, Yamamoto and most of the guardians abide by this rule. Yamamoto has black hair that sticks up into spikes without being styled. His hair is also short enough that it doesn't defy gravity. His eyes are a honey brown. daily, kokuyo, and varia arcs
During the first few arcs, Yamamoto wears white button up shirts with a colorful t-shirt underneath. These white shirts are also a part of the Namimori school uniform so it is not surprising he has so many of them, of course leaving the tops unbuttoned would make Hibari cringe if he saw them. Yamamoto's undershirts are almost always either red or blue. He usually wears a belt with black pants or jeans and a pair of running shoes. These clothes are probably the ones he’s wearing under his school uniform, a uniform which also consists of a sweater-vest, making them prime choices when fighting battles after school as is done during the first three arcs. Yamamoto's clothing doesn't stand out much against his fellow guardians as most of them wear some variation of their school uniform during these arcs. It isn't until the future arc when they're not actively attending school that this changes. The future and shimon arcs
During the latter arcs, Yamamoto and the others take the time to save their family by skipping out on school. While this is highly irresponsible becoming a mafia boss is clearly more important. Yamamoto wears casual clothes during both of these arcs and they show his fondness for thick puffy collars on his jacket and/or vest. Yamamoto’s shirts are still plain as far as colors go; however his jackets are often bright colors such as red or green. Underneath his jacket he wears some sort of a graphic t-shirt however the writing on these shirts is always too hard to read. Yamamoto continues the tread of wearing black slacks or jeans along with a belt and his running shoes. His more casual attire is also reflected by the other guardians during these arcs. None of them are limited to their school uniforms so they all seem to wear more exciting clothes.
